You should never try to repress your feelings because this will make your depression worse.

You might be depressed because you are an abuse or assault victim. People who have been abused usually have tons of bottled-up resentment, not just to the person who abused them, but also to others who allowed them to be abused. For example, if you were abused by your father, you probably also have hidden resentment for your mother because she did not do anything about it. There are even cases of abuse where the victim did not even remember the abuse. You could be depressed and not even remember the abuse. A healthy romantic relationship with a man or woman is one of the hardest relationships you can have. It requires a lot of hard work and sacrifice on both of your ends, and unfortunately, things are not always going to go well. Just realize that a relationship does not define your personal identity.
